Rahr 2-row, Golden Promise Lovibond and BrunWater
« on: January 25, 2016, 06:36:05 am »
I have some Rahr 2-row and Golden Promise on the way.  I know there has been discussion on raising the Rahr's lovibond number into Brunwater for better pH estimates. Can someone please remind me what numbers work best for these when entering them into Brunwater?

Rahr 2-row (maybe it worked out best at 5L)?

Golden Promise (I remember Martin B. mentioning something about having better results changing this one too, but just can't remember what number)?

And last, but not least, I have some Rahr 6-row and was curious if that works better at a different lovibond estimate as well?

Thank you for all your help in advance with keeping my brewing on the straight and narrow.
Cheers-

I enter Rahr 2row as 5L (per Martin) and it works pretty accurately.

Which GP do you have? The Simpsons is light, around 2L, Thomas Fawcett is closer to 3L.

if you have time and a pH meter, mix your water the night before, then do a mini mash and you will see if you hit your target pH.

Any idea if this includes 6 row too?

I don't know. Hopefully Martin will chime in.

Just brewed with TF Golden Promise and a touch of Acid Malt. Setting the color to 7 matched the pH. Seems pretty high.. maybe the Weyerman acid malt was a bit extra acidic or my water a little harder than reported.
