Believe it or not, that still looks pretty uncrushed to me.  Crystal malt can do that in the package depending on how it is stored/shipped.  At least I have recieved packages like that more than once in the past.  It still needs to be crushed more.

+2 crush it.  I regularly crush grain that has already been crushed (my LHBS only stocks crushed), as I BIAB.

I am not sure I would use grain from my LHBS that has already been crushed.  I would think for one it would stale faster and second all the good stuff would filter to the bottom of the storage container over the course of this person, that person and 3 others digging and jostling storage container around.

How is your efficiency?  Does it stay constant or does it fluctuate randomly?  Just curious.

My efficiency is pretty stable around the 75-80% mark. I mainly buy my grain uncrushed online, and the lhbs for emergencies. They have a pretty high turnover of grain, so I'm not concerned about stale grain. They sell it packaged in 1 and 3kg bags, which they bag up when they get new stock in.

Maybe they ran it through a mill that had no rollers in it.   :o

It didn't even occur to me that they bag the grain.  Seems like a lot of overhead work when you could just bin it and let the customer crush or not crush their own grain.  But I can imagine that some LHBS may have a lot of thumb twiddling time on their hands.

They sell online too, so I guess they have to do it for that anyway.
