Shout Out To Bru'n Water...
« on: February 19, 2016, 07:31:01 pm »
I know there is already a ton of threads about Bru'n Water but I wanted to make one simply praising Bru'n Water and Martin for the spreadsheet. I have used the free version for a while but I realized the premium version you get with a donation had much more to it. So I made my donation and upgraded a while back and have been using it since on several batches now. I have to say it's really a nice tool to have. I know most everyone here knows all about Bru'n Water, but if not you should consider it.

I admit I was reluctant at first, it does seem overwhelming but after running through it it's laid out pretty nice. I used other programs that were easier to use but I do not believe they are as accurate for ph estimation. I have been within .5 ph on every batch I have used it with it and the it's other features make it well worth it. I still recommend any water calculator over non at all and to check your mash ph but when you are ready for it Bru'n Water will help take you to that next level.

I recently started using it and am amazed at how far off I was in my guesstimations previously.  Brewing my 3rd batch today using it and looking forward to getting my pretty good beers great!

The sparge water acidification calculator is handy. I was surprized at how much acid it took to nuetralize my sparge water. I always added some acid but didnt always check boil ph. It has helped me lock in some better numbers  on all that.
