Has anyone brewed "Walter Wheat"
« on: February 21, 2016, 12:23:11 pm »
It's an all grain wheat beer kit from Morebeer that I bought for the wheat beer. It comes with a packet of raspberry flavor crystals  (the Breaking Bad connection) that I didn't want to put in. Now I wonder if leaving this out will somehow alter the intended flavor profile. Can you give me some thoughts?

What are the crystals? Busted up jolly rancher?

Leaving it out will obviously affect the intended flavor, but for the good or worse is subjective. Kinda neat idea.

The crystals look like blue rock salt in the bag. Supposed to put in for the last 10 min of the boil. I just don't want to brew a lifeless beer that needed these things to liven it up. I'll try to get the ingredients posted. Not a fan of fruit beer anyway.

Looking at the recipe sheet, it should make a fine Am Wheat. I don't think you'll miss them, but now I want to bust up some jolly ranchers. Watermelon Wit with Jolly Rancher watermelon candy.

Sounds like a meme beer.

Must have been a gift? Or buyer's remorse?  :-\ I say toss those crystals in and if the beer sucks let everyone know.

Brewed it without the candy. Very awesome hop flavor and aroma. Not too bitter either. Chewed on a couple crystals while drinking it and I don't think it would be bad in there either. I think they were just there to raise alcohol and give a little blue color maybe a some fake raspberry flavor.
