Gypsum, ca cl, baking soda are what I've used. Also lactic acid for ph purposes.

Lye?  Is that used for a lutefisk brew?

Who said they use Lye?

I wondered that too.  I use lye when making pretzels but would be leery of using it in beer.

I think that post confused Lime and Lye.
There is one vote for Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
Some day we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny

Why would one use Lye in brewing? It doesn't seem to offer anything

It would raise pH as it would add Na and OH.

Hey they left sulfuric acid off of the list. Used by some breweries to lower pH and add SO4. I would have to buy better PSE and take some training if I were to use that. No thanks.

Not sure if you'd classify sulfuric acid as a water salt as much as an acid used to lower pH with the side effect of adding the sulfate ion much the same as the rest of the acids - hydrochloric (adding chloride), lactic (adding lactate) and phosphoric (adding phosphate), though I could add those to the list if it allows the edit.  As you said using acid to add ions get tricky but can be done with the right knowledge (and equipment).

Some breweries do use it, though.
