2016 April-June Wyeast PC
« on: March 22, 2016, 02:51:44 am »
Anyone have insider info? It looks like they usually release a Belgian, a Lager, and a Bug. I'm hoping for some really amazing saison and brett strain that would go with it.

Hmmm, well so much for that. None of those are tripping my trigger. Good thing their Belgian Saison is always available.

I'll have to stash a pouch of the Unibroue strain for when D-240 becomes available...

I have had good results using the 3864 in Belgian ales (what else would I use it for?). I only wish my LHBS carried Wyeast just for this strain.

Eric--A quad using D-240 and 3864 sounds amazing to me.

Ya know, a nice big DBS would be nice come fall. I might have to rethink that

I have not had the chance to brew with this one.  I sense an upcoming purchase.

3864 is an awesome strain. I wish they'd make it a year round ( along with some others like 2487, 3726, etc). I've emailed Dawson @ Wyeast about these and others. The more of us that email them, the more likely it is.

Edited for crappy grammar.

Michael Dawson likely wouldn't answer you since he now works with Jake Keeler at BSG as of January. He does say the 2487 is the best lager strain EVA!!! I'd like to try it...

Hadn't heard that. He used to respond to emails about strains personally when he was at Wyeast. Anyway, enough email votes really make a difference. As much as 833 is used by lager brewers, I really don't get them not wanting to get 2487 out there year round to compete.

It's available year round in a bottle of La Fin du Monde.  Or any of their other beers, too.

Just saying.  It's pretty darn easy to grow a pitchable amount.

+ 1 - of the times I have bottle harvested, that yeast was by far the easiest.

I bug them every chance I get to make 2487 a year round strain.
