If the concern in Brass... Isn't the spigot and hose connections Brass?  Just thinking if there is a concern with the QD.... those are good things to change out too.

Hi guys- i made this filter using a whole house filter, some pvc and a couple brass fittings.  I hook up a garden hose to my utility sink, then run it to the qd attached to the filter.  The ball valve gives me control at the kettle.  The downspout on the output allows me to hang it on my kettle without having to hold it.  Unfortunately i do not have an exploded pic of this one, but ive been happy with it since i have purified water on hand whenever i need it.  Hope this helps.

I ended up going with a counter top model like this. https://www.pur.com/water-filtration/water-faucet-mounts/pur-advanced-faucet-water-filter

It's easy, cheap, and these type of filter are rated for both NSF/ANSI 42 and 53. Most of the cartridge type filters (10 inch for example) are only rated for 42. You want the 53!
