I dump beer often and without regret. The best thing I ever did for my brewing is give myself the OK to dump beer for any reason. Usually it's to free up keg or bottle space. I brew quite a bit of experiments and taste-tests. It is rare for one of those batches to be so good that I want to drink all of it. Once I get what I need, the rest gets cleared out to make room for other batches. Plus, I have limited keg space. I'm not going to sit on a mediocre beer when I can use the space for something I really enjoy.

Life is too short to drink bad beer.....

I say this more and more now anytime I'm drinking anything other than an imported German lager or truly classic example made in the States such as Lakefront Maibock (man is that beer ever awesome).   ;D

Jeez, I should really be brewing more lagers, and dumping way more batches.  Like probably 3/4 of them.

Actually my phrase is something more like, "Life is too short to drink anything other than world-class."  That's what I really mean.

Agreed, fortunately I've never had to dump a batch because of infection. Just sometimes my execution doesn't hit the target or for whatever reason is just kinda "meh".

I drink my mistakes, and they go away. :)

I usually have 6-8 homebrews on tap, and I'm pretty much the only beer drinker in the house. So some kegs get pretty old.  Sometimes they sour, but mostly have just gone meh. I'd rather have the empty keg than these, so a couple of gallons gets dumped several times a year.

I make a lot of beer. Some batches are all consumed quickly. Some are strong beers to age. Some are lagers that are kept cold. I have a lot of kegs. I dumped several partial kegs this winter as I needed clean kegs. The beer was not bad, but had started to stale, or just was not going to improve. I am past the time where I drank everything, and realize some experiments don't turn out to be that beer you were hoping for. I just brew the next beer I am thinking about, and refill the cleaned keg.

You may think so when you receive my beer from the swap!

I just had to throw my keyboard away...I think I poured about a pint out of it...but drying in the sun didn't fix it this time...so...I'd say a pint a week...52 pints...
