Fermenter Capacity
« on: April 10, 2016, 12:57:41 pm »
Hi everyone, I am looking to buy a stainless steel 50 liter conical fermenter and was wondering if there needs to be a minimum amount of beer in it for proper fermentation? Is there a problem if I put 30 liters of beer to ferment in the 50 liter fermenter?

What you are proposing sounds perfectly reasonable. I typically ferment 2-3 gallons in a 6.5 gallon bucket without any issues.

Shouldn't be a problem especially if you have a racking arm in the racking port

I regularly ferment 5 gallon batches in a 10 gallon stainless conical.
