It takes 10-12 years and 8-10 million to bring a hop to production. Why not protect your investment?

People often forget this point in a discussion of this sort.  Thank you for the reminder.

Indeed.

And I don't get what the big deal is...it's a freekin' HOBBY, people!  Use whatever you like that gets you the results you want.

This seems like a Seinfeld episode about nothing. No one is avoiding these hops and there is no "Big Hops" in the sense that there is a Big Pharma etc. Everyone is more or less saying the same thing, almost pretending that there is something to disagree with.
Don't let the bastards cheer you up.

I know I'm wrong but I think that you think I'm wrong for the wrong reason. Let me explain...

To me, I prefer to buy these hops. I look at it as rewarding innovation. I'm always up for a new, interesting hop variety to play with, and I will support the hop breeders that are out there looking for the next big thing.

I agree with Denny! People should brew with whatever they want. In fact I would go one step farther and suggest that maybe they should be required to brew with whatever they want!

I want to brew all of my beers with only my own hops.  And I do.  Hop independent!  Take that Hop Union!
