Dont think ive ever used Briess and if i did i dont remember it. Any opinion?

I like it fine, but some don't.

It's a nice, minimal-flavor-imparting, standard US 2row malt.  Works well for those beers where you aren't looking for significant malt character.

BTW, nice find jimmy!  I grabbed some myself. I can't find anything local for THAT price.

4 x 10lb sacks goes to ~$26. It worked for me.

Man, I wish I had a use for this stuff because that price can't be beat.

This is a pretty solid deal.... I'm just weary on the freshness. I don't get too bent out of shape over malt freshness. I usually buy a couple hundred pounds of base malt at a time when I find it on sale. This usually lasts me the year. I just wonder if this has been sitting around in a warehouse for a couple of years. You'll have to let us know!

I've never had Melba toast but I imagine the analogy is that briess brewers malt is like stale toast compared to fresh toasted bread. I've used plenty of rahr, malteurop, and briess to know that they are interchangeable in recipes that call for a (virtually) flavorless base malt. IMO, of course.

This was the 10 pounds for $6.71 deal? I've never run across GW out my way either, so I'd certainly take a shot at this to give their malt a try.
