2Row was part of the Mash.  I thought I put that in there

3.5lbs of 2Row

and yes, using refractometer for both readings.     Its been dialed in using the distilled water method.   So I would need to still correct the readings of a refractometer?

Refractometers are only accurate PRIOR to alcohol being produced during fermentation which throws them off by quite a bit. If you use the above calculator then you can adjust your post fermentation refractometer reading appropriately.

using refractometer

Gotcha. Missed that.  Check out Stevies reply above for correcting calculations from refractometer readings.  It appears that you are just fine.

So Im getting about 3.9% ABV.  For an IPA that seems a little low.   Or am I getting a different ABV than the group?

When I ran it through the calculator, I got a 1.012 FG, which computed to about 5.96% ABV.

I missed the refractometer part...

Had it been hydrometer and accurate, I would suspect extract and crystal

Im going to admit.  Refractometer is a new 'toy' for me.

Maybe I should do more homework operating it :p

Brewers all do things a little differently here. No one's right or wrong. Personally, I use the refractometer for preboil and post boil OG readings and a hydrometer for FG. But Sean's correction for refractometer FG readings is plenty accurate.
