Dang it... I was hoping for Austin Texas. Oh well. Should still be fun. I'm not making it to Baltimore this year, but I'll hope to go next year (and hope they change the name back to NHC.....)
Austin has been discussed a few times, but my take is that until several things get worked out woth laws it won't happen. I think there were also facilities issues.
TX has some legal things with Homebrew that are issues to having the Conf. there as I understand it.
I typed NHC out of habit, but it is HomebrewCon.
Yeah, I think we still have a few legal issues to work out in TX, though I'm not that up on pouring laws at festivals, etc.
The legal situation has definitely improved in TX, as a few years back our silly labeling laws did not allow anything over 4% to be called beer. In response the the TABC's argument to continue this practice, the judge responded that under the previous law:
Texas would likely face no [legal] obstacle if it wished to pass a law defining the word ‘milk’ to mean ‘a nocturnal flying mammal that eats insects and employs echolocation.’”
