Upon reflection I remembered the time I almost drowned while whitewater rafting underneath the New River Gorge Bridge when a hydraulic called Fayette Station flipped the boat. Afterwards I was presented with a Coors and it was manna from heaven.

I'd still choose De Dolle Oerbier after a 90 day hiatus.  ;D
It's not a popularity contest, it's beer!

My first thought was after a 3 month break it probably wouldn't matter what I started with because it would end in "too much".   :-[

If I had to choose it today I'd grab a pint of my English Golden Ale.  Very fine brew that would invite a second.

There's something about it that I just don't like. Probably the fermentation character, because I get the same flavor out of WY2007. I'd gladly take a Coors Banquet or MGD over Bud if I had to choose.

I agree. It's the yeast character I'm not a big fan of. Forced to pick one of the other macros I'd go with Coors Banquet or MGD, too. Though back when Schlitz actually had the 'kiss of the hops' like it said on the can, I'd have picked it hands down.

I think I'd go with my current go-to.  Pollyanna Lexical Gap.  I've been stocking up wheneer I go to Chicago or whenever freinds or family from there come to visit.

Man, seriously...I don't know why you'd choose either of those...that's bleak. I guess "forced" was the key word there. I'd go Hamm's or Peebs, myself if I had to choose swill. We don't get Yuengling here...that is actually good tasting beer.

I agree - I wouldn't. That was a hypothetical BMC crapfest answer. Kinda like the 'Would you rather....' game.  :)   I'll stick with having one of my hoppy APAs as first beer back after a long hiatus, as a gateway back to good beer.

My homebrew.

I took 30 days off earlier this year. I had 2 homebrews lagering and ready to go at the end of the tunnel.

My current favorite is a homemade pale lager. But that's probably because it is so hot outside.

I don't believe I've ever had Coors Banquet. I'll have to try it sometime just to say I did.

I think coors banquet was the first beer I had that was not provided in small sips by my parents. It was awfully good way back in 7th grade, I mean sophomore year of college. Back to the main topic, I think my first beer back would be a nice crisp pilsner, or whatever I could easily put my hands on

Fermenting: Ringler Pilsner (thanx Ron)
Conditioning:
In keg: Traquair House Clone (Skotrat style)

Since I'm am a hop junkie it would have to be a good solid IPA or APA [and where exactly is the black and white dividing line between the two?]. If I didn't have anything that needed to be done, or need to drive afterward I might have a DIPA and the spend the next couple hours inspecting the inside of my eyelids.
In defense of the majors [don't kill me please] it might be noted that Coors Banquet won gold at last year's GABF for American Light Lagers. Whilst most of us fans of "real" beer may look down our noses at what my ever so subtle Brother calls "bladder wash", the beers we grew up with in our teens [or college] were excellent examples of the ubiquitous American style. One could argue that they are the ultimate session beer [I won't though].
A couple of FWIWs, although I grew up drinking Coors, the first beer I ever had [drinking was absolutely taboo at home] was a Bud that had spent the previous several days in a hot car trunk, it was the bestest thing I had ever tasted! If warm Bud tasted that good, I knew I was doomed to be a beer drinker. The other FWIW, last evening I actually had a Bud Light, it was either that or a Coors light or nothing. Usually I would have opted for nothing, but I just felt like being kinky instead, I guess
I spent most of my money on beer, tools and guns, the rest I foolishly squandered on stupid stuff!
