Odd chest freezer question...
« on: June 27, 2016, 07:09:47 pm »
Alright, so all my beer for our Fourth of July party is in the kegerator ready to roll. (We've been sampling it, it's tasty. Pics once the gelatin has worked its magic) Now we're planning on using the kegerator as "overflow" fridge space leading up to the party.

Where would you all recommend I place the thermometer probe for my temp controller? Just hang it in the middle of the chest freezer, measuring air temps? (I'd likely set it to 37oF, so that it'd never be able to go above 40o.
Corn is a fine adjunct in beer.

And don't buy stale beer.

Depends on the freezer. IMO towards the bottom away from the coils is ideal. My freezers have coils around the top third only.

I wouldn't store perishable food in there very long.

The coils in mine are about 2/3 of the way up the freezer as well.

Likely we'd just be storing two pork butts in there. (for pulled pork.)

Maybe I should wet brine them, and put the temperature probe on the outside of the brining bin...
