Tincture in Bottling Bucket Question
« on: June 27, 2016, 04:40:46 pm »
So, Ive been making a habanero tincture. My question is how would you add it to the bottling bucket? I have a 5 gallon batch of Mango IPA. I'm going to split that when I go to bottle it, 3.5 gallons as a mango ipa and 1.5 gallons as a mango habanero ipa. How would you add it? Would I add my priming sugar solution to the bottling bucket, once I bottle 3.5 gallons, would I then add the habanero tincture? Or do I need to add 3.5 gallons with correct amount priming solution, bottle that. Then , add the priming solutionwith a few drops of the tincture and transfer the remaining 1.5 gallons on top of that and bottle?

I would figure out how much tincture you need for a bottle of beer. Prime the batch and bottle, then add the tincture to however many bottles you want individually and cap.

I know how much tincture I need for 1.5 gallons, but how or when do I add it?  Are you saying add the tincture directly to each bottle?

That's the way I read it and it sounds like a good idea to me, but I haven't added any tinctures to my brews yet

The way I would do it would be to:

1.  Batch prime your full 5 gallons.
2.  Bottle the first 3.5 gallons.
3.  Add the tincture to the remaining 1.5 gallons.
4.  Bottle the 1.5 gallons.

the tincture will spread evenly through it if i just add it to the last 1.5 gallons?

Give it a gentle swirl with a sanitised spoon.

Good process with an additional gentle swirl to fully mix the habanero in between #3 and 4.

So I tried taking another I had made and just added drops to that before I poured it into a glass and it came out well.  So I did just go the route of adding it directly into the bottle.  Thanks for the help/tips!
