I wasn't sure where to post this.
I know lots of folks use the vacuum sealr bags for hops.
And I thought was a pretty cool alternantive.
Haven't tried it yet.

I used to do that to sous vide steaks in my cooler. Now I just use a vacuum sealer I got cheap off Amazon.

What about something like hops? Would it get the air out? This would work for the cooking, as that will happen relatively soon, no? The other thing about a ziplock is that it is not O2 barrier

The water batch technique works better with steaks and firm items. If you are dealing with whole hops you have to manually compress the hops to get the most air out.

this would do in a pinch for short term storage but is absolutely no substitute for a vacuum sealer...

I use this method a lot for steaks and leftovers but when i tried it with my hops it just didnt work, theres just too much air in the hops, vacuum seal is the best!
