My beer is a hit!
« on: July 28, 2016, 02:46:58 AM »
The Blood Orange Hefeweizen that I brewed as sort of a homage to the band my brother is in (Born Again Heathens, hence the beer name Born Again Heathenweizen) is apparently a hit.  I heard from them today, and they asked me if I would brew another batch of it for them to take with them when they go to Florida in September.  They are also releasing an EP, and my brother asked if I may be interested in brewing another batch if they do a release party.  I'm pretty stoked about that.  Looks like my next brew or two will be the Hefe again.

Well done Erik. Just make sure that you and they understand all state laws regarding your brewing the beer, them taking it out of state, and possibly pouring it at a public event. Not trying to be a buzzkill, just dont want anyone in trouble with the law either. Different laws for different states, just CYA.

Hmmmm.  I hadn't thought about that.  My brother is good friends with the owners of several local breweries, and I wonder if he could talk one of them them into letting me brew it as a collaboration with the brewery to cover the "Home Brew" aspect of it.  Might have to look into that.

I really like the concept, and the name is killer too. What did you add/do process wise to lend the blood orange??

I just racked it into a secondary on top of 3# of blood orange puree for about a week..  After the gravity was stable, bottled it up.

Nice work Erik.  Always good when you get good feedback on beers you make.  Better go get more oranges!  :D
