Mailbox Cooked Hops

1.5 lbs of hops sat in my mailbox for over 24 hours. Temps outside my black, metal, mailbox were 90+.  All packaged in Foodsaver-type bags.  Varieties are Citra, Centennial, Liberty.....

Should I just pitch them? I hate to throw out $50 but will not waste a 12-gal batch them if they are trash.

Pop them in the freezer. They should be alright.

Or you can send them to me and I will make sure they are disposed if properly.

Threw them in the fridge...planning to brew with the Liberty's Saturday.  The rest have some time before I need them.  Thanks.

Wow sorry to hear that, I was just getting ready to order some hops from FreshHops.com for a Pliny recipe but after thinking about it I may not do that.
If you don't get in over your head, how are you ever going to know how tall you are.

Checked two of the bags and they seem to smell fine.  I assume the "cheesy" odor would be really obvious, so I think I am good to go.  I order all my hops from http://www.nikobrew.com/

I'd throw them in the freezer and then use them.

If they turn out to be really too far gone, you could use them as "aged" hops in a lambic...

They got hot for one day.  You can still use them.  They were dried with 140F air, FYI.

Before AC was invented, the brewers had to deal with old hops that had been stored at warmer temps, as the harvest happens once a year (N. Hemisphere anyway).

Keep them in the freezer.  Vacuum packed is best, and the Freshops bags seem to be pretty good.
