Introducing the Brew Guru mobile app
« on: August 24, 2016, 11:32:35 am »
The AHA is very excited to unveil the Brew Guru mobile app. It's a great tool for any beer drinker and homebrewer, and has added benefits for the AHA member.

Check it out here, and let us know what you think!

Found a couple of breweries near work that I hadn't heard of.  The app is very user friendly, so far no complaints
Some day we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny

I was hoping for a lot more.  Thought I would be able to access the recipe database and also the nhc seminars.  Am I doing it wrong?

I have found some errors in the map. A method to report these would be good.

From a user experience, it is a bit confusing to get to the map. The menu lists it as member deals, by the map also show breweries and pubs.

Overall I am happy to replace my home screen AHA member deals bookmark with the app.

The app lists 3 companies  with discounts in Huntsville. I went to one (Mellow Mushroom) the day before this app came out and they said they no longer give the AHA discount. They still had an AHA sticker on the front door.

Another offers 5% off homebrew supplies but stopped selling homebrew supplies a few months ago.

That's not a complaint about the app. It's nice.

There are a lot of data in the app's map function. Those data were pulled from a BA database I'm sure. Often I see the main office or production facility listed, but if you ask for directions, it takes you to the pub or tap room - but not always.

I was told to send issue to info@brewersassociation.org so that those can be captured.

I think the app is pretty slick and look forward to using it on a road trip.

One error I found shows a location that is about 8 miles south of the real place. Another is a brewery that closed way back.

App seems good, needs some improvements.

I love the app logo. Any chance there's a t-shirt available with just this logo?

We love the logo, too!  Yes indeed, there is a t-shirt with the logo on it that will be featured in the newly redesigned AHA store which will launch within a few days.

When I try to install the app, I get a message that's it's not available for my device, specifically for the country my device is registered in (Canada).

Before I launch into a long screed about too many Americans (I'm also a native US citizen) regarding us Canadians as being behind the Maple Leaf Curtain in Canuckistan, let me ask why the app should care what country I'm in.  I happen to be an AHA member living less than an hour from the US border.  I'd like access to the app to know what benefits I'm entitled to on frequent US trips.

I feel a little like I'm looking at a party across the street which I'm not allowed to attend.

There's no intention to leave out our members from beyond the U.S. border.  There's a technical issue with the country field in the app that is being resolved in a later edition.  Once that's fixed the app will be available every where.

OK, that worked.  The link on the mobile homepage still generates an XML error.
