Do I Need to Replace my Shutoff Valve?
« on: November 17, 2016, 12:35:30 pm »
Greetings All,

While trying to troubleshoot a small leak in my keezer's CO2 system, I found some beer in one of the gas lines.  It appears the check valve within the shutoff valve did its job and kept the beer from going into the regulator.  Do I need to completely replace the shutoff valve (like this one http://www.homebrewing.org/Shut-Off-14-MPTx14-MFL-W-Check_p_3898.html) or can the valve be cleaned/sanitized/reused?

I am also placing check valves at the gas disconnects to (hopefully) reduce the chance of future operator error.

Cheers,

Bill

I would say no. Obviously check and make sure it is clean and dry, and more importantly functional. If it seems ok I would say your fine. YMMV
