Sierra Nevada Sidecar
« on: January 10, 2017, 05:56:28 pm »
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is one of my favorite beers (I created a pretty decent clone), so I was really interested to try their Sidecar Pale Ale, an IPA with a touch of orange.

There is a slight orange aroma. Maybe it's just me, but I can't taste any orange at all.

That being said, it is an easy drinking beer.

I just had a pint and I must say I enjoyed it! Not overly citrus-y, but it was there. Almost like a hoppy shock top, but way better.

I agree, the orange aroma is very subtle, but enjoyable. Comes out a bit more as it warms.
Beer is my bucket list,

Not a ringing endorsement.

I had this last night at a restaurant for the first time and really enjoyed it. I agree that the orange character is very subtle. I really liked the hop character and it was nice to have a pale that doesn't have to push the hops over the edge. It looks like Cascade, Mandarina, and Equinox work really well together when used appropriately...

Interesting that "Ekuanot" is still being called Equinox

look forward to trying this.  did try the new Tropical Torpedo and thought it was excellent - top 10 IPA for me - very easy drinking, up there with Blind Pig for me.

Good to know it's well received. I was scared of the orange flavor and have passed on it at the store a couple times.
Don't let the bastards cheer you up.

Damn, I started to buy it yesterday and ended up buying something I didn't care for much. Thanks for the info.

Damn Paul, you weren't kidding. Picked some up on the way home - bottled just over a month ago. I expected it to be really good with your endorsement, but it's just outstanding. Pale, dry, fantastic Tropical hop character. The dry finish is perfect with the tropical hop character. That's the kind of IPA I shoot for when I brew. I agree, it's a top 10 IPA. Mediocre breweries, please try this.
