Simple recipe question
« on: July 14, 2010, 08:16:06 PM »
The Pliny the Elder recipe is pretty intriguing to me, just trying to figure out one simple question.  Are the hops noted whole hops or pellets or does it even matter??

Generally it's safe to assume, unless noted, that hops are pellets.

For an IIPA it is best to use pellet hops if possible because you will lose a TON of wort due to soakage in the whole hops.

BTW: Pliny the Elder is a great beer and the clone is a great recipe.

I just brewed this and used pellets.  Drink it fast though, because it fades quickly.  Next time I make it, I may up the dry hop charge a bit.
