Using my new induction cooktop
« on: March 25, 2017, 02:44:53 pm »
I just got a new Advantco 3500 watt cooker, and am finding the user manual kind of scant. I understand that I can adjust both watts and temp, but am fuzzy about how those two interact. To bring strike water to temp, do I crank up both watts and temp to their maximums?  Also, once I have a boil, do I decrease temp? Watts? Both?  Some specifics from a home-brewer would help!

I believe you can set the watts OR the temperature, not both simultaneously. I prefer setting the watts high until the boil starts, then reduce to maintain the boil intensity I want. The wattages will be repeatable, so after the first trial, you should be good. A trial with water, that is. That should give you the confidence to proceed with precious wort in there.
