It's about friggen time!!
« on: January 26, 2017, 10:58:29 am »
Finally, I'm brewing tomorrow night!!! I don't have my electric brewery finished yet. But I have enough to do a stove top brew. I was going to wait until I had it all done but Sunday I drank a sixer of Lauganitas IPA and that just turned a switch on. I HAVE to brew. NOW!!
I did a test run Tuesday night and can get a rolling boil of 3 - 3.5 gallons. I'l top off to 5 after I move it to the fermenter.  My only slight concern is fermentation temp control. I was so spoiled in my old brewery. My downstairs bathroom tends to hold at about 66*. I would like to drop a couple degrees off but just can't do it. Worst case, I'll use a swamp cooler.
My first two batches are going to be my Goose Juice IPA, for me, and Panty Dropper Honey Wheat, for Tammy. (not that she needs it.  ;) ) Long story short, it's gonna be a good Friday night!!

I know the feeling man, three months laid up on the sidelines and I'm finally healed up enough for some baby brews, probably Saturday for me though. Here's to no trainwrecks at your place or mine 8). Just bottled a batch of Dopplebock two days ago that's been in the fridge since early October, it didn't taste terrible so maybe it'll be drinkable in a couple weeks.

Here's to hoping for us both. I'm guessing it's been about four years for me. I actually had  to head over to Dennybrew.com for a refresher course!  :o

So Saturday brew day turned into Tuesday brew day. I always get nervous when I get to the end of brew day without any wrecks, makes me wonder what I screwed up that I won't discover until later. It was great though getting back into it after a layoff, and the house smells wonderful!
