Help me convert all grain to partial mash?
« on: February 15, 2017, 04:16:16 pm »
Hey everyone, I am new to the forum but I have been brewing for about 3 years. I am no pro. I usually only do 2-4 batches. Year tops. I always do partial grain. Someday I will do all grain.
That said, I was given some cocoa nibs by  a friend and he asked me to make something tasty. I am making it for an event in July so it will likely be warm. I came across something called white stouts and it seemed like a good alternative to stouts and porters.
I came across this recipe and it looks good:
http://blog.kegoutlet.com/brewing-a-white-stout-the-recipe/
Problem is I need to convert it to partial mash. I have seen several threads about this but they are all old and any links provided are dead. I also read this but it's above my pay grade:

Could anyone help me convert this recipe to partial mash?
I would also take any input about the recipe in general as well.
Thanks!
Here is the recipe in case you don't want to go to the link.
NOTE: I am doing a 5gallon batch. The link lists ingredients for 10 gallons. Below I converted it to 5 gallons.

8 lbs. Marris Otter LME
2.75 lbs. Marris Otter  Malt
1.5 lbs. Flaked Oats
1 lb. C-20
1 lb. Flaked Barley
1 lb. Smoked Malt

That ought to get you real close on the grain bill. Depending on the size of your mash tun you could swap out another pound or 2 of base malt for extract.
Beer is my bucket list,
