Gordon Strong's American Dubbel American Brown Ale

Has anyone brewed this recipe from the book Modern Homebrew Recipes? If so how did it turn out. I was thinking about brewing 10 gallons and pitching a Belgian yeast in half.

No but I am literally looking at the recipe now. I am more interested in the techniques that he's talking about so I may do a smaller batch.
