Made a lot of progress.  Not finished yet but I figured I'd post some update pics.  Granite guy drilled 3/4" holes which I filled with epoxy as well as put a good layer of silicone underneath the base of the column.  Made a stem with PVC to also add stability.  I think the counter will come off before the tower does.

Looks great so far. Love the freezer conversion. Nice looking tower, too.

When the time comes that the freezer has problems or dies, how hard will it be to repair or replace?

thanks guys!

When the time comes that the freezer has problems or dies, how hard will it be to repair or replace?

the front façade is only kept in place by 4 hidden screws.  if and when that happens, zip-zip, the whole front covering the freezer comes off, pull the freezer out and insert a new one.  there's 4 inches to the left and about 8 to the right, so shifting it inside is also very manageable.

of course, I'll most likely have to build a new collar, but I might be lucky and they still make the exact same model, but Murphy's law suggests not.

Thanks. That is for the coolant fan pumping cool air into the tower
