Used Bru'n Water For the First Time
« on: April 06, 2017, 07:08:51 am »
I cleared up my blonde ale and carbed it up. It is a very clean but kind of bland. My water profile was " yellow balanced ". I want more flavour. Do I just use more hops and some specialty malts, or try another water profile. I am new to this, so I don't know what any other water profile to choose. I am going to make a Pilsner soon and want to to be hoppy and malty. Other than this very minor problem, Bru'n Water is a great program and I should of used it a long time ago. Thanks Martin.

Cheers,

Water salts don't add flavor they enhance various characteristics of the ingredients used.

What those enhancements are is described in numerous places including here under Major Ions in Brewing:

If you want to add more hop flavor add more hops.  If you want to add more malt flavor add more malt.  If you want to enhance various characteristics of your beer add the appropriate water salts.
