Still bubbling at 14th day and floating hop!
« on: May 05, 2017, 08:09:29 pm »
Hi,

I have been waiting for bottling this beer :

https://youtu.be/gOqNUBiL1IA

Started fer[/flash]menting on 4/22 evening 6pm. Suffered from heat wave probably high 80's a few days earlier this week. Aggressive bubbling stopped around 4/25 but this continuous bubble stream does not stop since! Anything wrong?

Also, hops usually sank at this many days of primary fermentation but they still float to the top. Gentle shaking sinks half of them but within an hour all float back up. Why so?

Read that bubbling could be due to dissolved CO2 in beer and it's SG that matters. How can I siphon the beer out w/o perturbing the floating hop? Read also to use some covering the tip of siphon with sort of a mash bag, but I bet that will still perturb the hop. Thoughts?

Thanks!

You have to take a gravity reading to know where your beer is. Just do it and dont worry about disturbing the hops. I would bet its done fermenting.
