Fermentation Bucket spigot issue
« on: May 21, 2017, 01:53:07 pm »
I have done this more than once... accidentally opened the spigot on my bucket.   Does anyone have a trick for keeping this shut with using tape and making a sticky mess of it?

Can you rotate the spigot? I don't have one on my main fermentation bucket, but my bottling bucket has one that you screw on with a washer on the back side.  You could flip it up during primary, so if it did open it wouldn't just all gush out, and also change which direction the handle goes.  Of course if you never remove the beer from the bucket that would be a problem.

This and sanitation are why I don't like fermenting in buckets with spigots.
How about putting your bottling wand on the spigot. That way if it opens it just fills the wand. Its hard to imagine a situation where the spigot and wand both get accidentally opened.
Don't let the bastards cheer you up.
