Rice hulls needed for BIAB?
« on: June 11, 2017, 02:56:32 pm »
I'm planning on brewing a witbier with about 5 lbs. of malted wheat.  The recipe calls for 1 lb of rice hulls for sparging.

Since BIAB has a lot more water to begin with, will I need the rice hulls to extract the most wort possible?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Rice hulls add bulk, and when mashing "gummy" grains like wheat and rye it can help prevent a stuck sparge. Rice hulls will in no way harm your beer, so add them.if you want

You will likely be fine if you are the type that squeezes the bag
