My usual strategy is to carefully remove the outer package, shake the heck out of the inner package, sanitize it, open it, and squeeze it in using the "toothpaste" method.

I slightly preferred the test tubes for ease of pitching, but I also worried a little more about contamination with them (in case something hitched onto the rim of the container), but that's probably mostly paranoia. I do like that the new style packaging is less material and more compact, though!
