Saving up for a conical  this looks gimmicky

Why is it more gimmicky than the Speidel or other fermenters?  Assume someone isn't interested in a conical (like me)....why shouldn't someone consider this?

Let's put it this way: would you buy one? Really? ...or tell folks a bucket is good enough? I think I've read where a different fermenter came out a while back and the bucket used for a bazillion batches passed down from methuselah is all that is ever needed.

I don't think it's the fermenter that's necessarily a gimmick but rather I believe it's the logical fallacy of argumentum ad verecundiam.

It goes like this: Sponsors key in on the "homebrewer's homebrewer" to get an endorsement. A new company comes along and gives out a fermenter, or automatic brewing machine, or a new cleaning solution, or you name it, to try it out and talk it up. The average homebrewer reads that and BLAM they gotta have one because the "homebrewer's homebrewer" used it. Good enough for the authority, good enough for me. Salesmanship at it's finest.

I'm just having trouble seeing the advantage of this compared to whats on the market.

Features don't match the price IMO, but it's nice to see more  fermenters coming on the market. For ages it was glass, buckets and then better bottles. Now there are new options every few months.
