Blichman Hellfire tiny flames
« on: August 07, 2017, 03:58:26 pm »
Just bought a brand new Blichman Hell Fire burner, followed all of the instructions to put it together, had a brand new full propane tank, and the flames took an hour to heat my 5 gallon batch to almost boil. Yes, I turned the metal lever to let more airbin, yes I turned the red valve all the way open. Any idea what is happening?  My dad's tiny little fried turkey burner worked way better.

You may have tripped the safety. Turn everything off including the tank. Wait 15 min. Turn the tank on but only turn the knob about a quarter turn, wait a few seconds and then open the tank all the way. Turn burner and and light.

If that doesn't work it could be a fault regulator.

I would lean towards it being the regulator. Like Stevie said slowly turn on the knob and wait before cranking it open all the way. I have a faulty regulator on my gas grill and use this method otherwise my grill struggles to get over 300*F.
