hops to try?
« on: August 21, 2017, 07:42:30 am »
I was looking at http://www.yakimavalleyhops.com/Blow_Out_Sale_s/1947.htm Yakima Valley Hops Super Sale section.  I was thinking of getting some of the on sale hops to try out the same IPA recipe but with different hops.  I was thinking of using the  Otto supreme or j lime or Vinnie special hops. Anyone have any experience with their super sale section or these hops?

Lots of atypical hops among the list. The hops you picked would be good for an IPA or APA. There are a lot of hops on the list that would be good for other styles but wouldn't be my first candidates for a hoppy American style.

thanks.   looking at that page and hops direct sales page, seems like a good way to try many different hops.  im going to order otto supreme and vinnie's special for an IPA.

I've tried the J-lime and I was rather disappointed. I got very little flavor. That said, the hops I got were basically the crumbs from a bale, without a lot of whole cones. YMMV with a better sample.
