If anyone has seen Gordon Strong and "1st kit", and has not chuckled due to the incongruety of those being together, let me know.  Or maybe this has all been a conspiracy by Denny, Drew, and Fred?  Hmmmm.

I chuckled but it hurt

I'll second the above comment as well.

This has been niggling at me for a while. Considering how prolific some of us can be. Aren't some of these levels set a little low? Maybe the intermediate like Brewer & Brewmaster should be at least 1000 posts or more?

I just can't shake that it might be a little intimidating for new members when so many members will display "Brewmaster". Maybe make the requirement to transition from "Assistant-brewer" to "Brewer" to "Brewmaster" a little more realistic.

Not to take away titles from anyone- I'd gladly give mine up. Just an idea.

Good point.  I never look at post count as a gauge of knowledge.  On other forums, there are people who have very low post counts but have forgotten more about brewing than I'll ever know.  Then there are people who have high post counts but eventually get banned from said forums for being a douche.

It doesn't take long to figure out who knows what their talking about.

All good points. Then why have the system in the first place?

I just look at it as a silly, fun little thing.  No real usefulness, but what does it hurt?
