I want to buy a pipette suitable for measuring small quantities of extracts into 4-oz or 6-oz samples of beer so I can then scale up the quantities to 3-to 5-gal. batches. 

I've never used one before and I don't know what size  (1-ml or 5-ml or other ) might work best and what quality I need. I've read the reviews on Amazon for some of the cheaper ones, and some of them get dinged for accuracy.

Any advice on size, quality, and source would be appreciated.

How much pipetting are you going to do? Unless it's more than a dozen at a time I'd just use a syringe. Unlike (inexpensive) pipettes, you won't be locked into a single volume.

I didn't think you could get a syringe that could measure in drop-size increments.  Are they available?

For aqueous solutions you can generally count and treat drops as their own unit (40 µL), although I'm not sure you'll need that level of precision for brewing. Each drop in a 6 fl oz sample would scale to 2.5 mL in a 3 gal batch, so you only need to be using 2 fl oz of the extract to get to ±2%. A 2 mL syringe would most likely be graduated in 100 µL, or ±5% in that same scenario.

For measuring very small amounts of lactic acid for liquor treatment, I went to the pharmacy and they gave me some 1ml syringes graduated in .01ml increments. The same are included for titration in water test kits so would probably be found through scientific suppliers, but the pharmacist was handy and generous.

Check out white labs. Pretty sure I️ bought a pack of 50 disposable 10 ml pipettes with 1ml increments.
