I haven't used the Barke, but the regular Weyermanns, and Type 1 definitely has a lighter touch (drier, nuttier, less caramel and stone fruit?) than Type 2. It would add another dimension if you blended with something to give that "heft." But on it's own I think you'll get something more like a Märzen. BTW ever try the Bohemian Dark? Same 6ish color, even less caramel & fruit IMO.
