Final thoughts on our first beer.
« on: December 22, 2017, 10:03:34 pm »

I sit here typing, with my first brew resting, in my glass beside me.
I'm damn proud of this Russian Imperial Stout.
Lightly carbonated, good, thick, long lasting head.
No sediment in the bottles, a floater now and then.
It was a big beer, to be our first. I know that.
In my opinion, we scored a 8.5/10.
I rechecked the F.G. its at around 7.3%

There was a bottle that I think was over carbonated, but I'm sure that is just nothing.
The worry, the questions,
So, this feeling. This pride; this is why we do it.

When you brew, brew with a happy heart.

Your next batch will be easier.
I've been brewing for about 16 years but I still remember my first batch.

You clearly have a much better idea of where you are,  where you need to go, and what issues you'll need to tackle on the way than I did when I first brewed in the late 1980s.  And you have so many resources, this forum included, to help you, nothing the likes of which existed then!  That said, I still remember my first brew as the most delicious thing I'd ever put my lips to!  Happy brewing for many years to come!

We already have an Imperial Blonde planned for next weekend, then get some mead in the big boy (6.5g)
I want to get a beer in a fermenter for St. Paddy's Day.

Congrats!  Enjoy that beer and everyone that you brew going forward. It is a passion and keep being proud of what you create. Cheers!
