What I want
« on: January 09, 2018, 03:16:07 AM »
Looking for...

Digital thermometer that can take the place of my blichmann thermometers. In other words, 1/2" male NPT and hot wort proof. My brewmometers work great except for low temps. Off by a ways when it gets down to pitching temp.

1/2" NPT butterfly valve. Seems like they'd be better than ball valves at flow control and easier to clean.

McMaster Carr for the butterfly: https://www.mcmaster.com/#butterfly-valves/=1b20fbp

Bet you could get a digital thermometer or thermocouple and thermowell there too.

Upon further review, thanks to the suggestions, I no longer want. Thanks a ton! I'll be cleaning my ball valves every brew day and using my handheld digital for chilling temps.

Jim, I think we're in the same boat. I'd love butterfly valves, much easier to clean and more control than ball valves...

...But then when you see the price tag, suddenly cleaning isn't so bad.

FWIW, I'd eventually like to swap all my ball valves for these:

But they're hardly cheap either. However, they do still solve the flow control and cleaning issues with ball valves.
Corn is a fine adjunct in beer.

And don't buy stale beer.

Think outside the box.

$1.99 no clean valve.  https://www.homebrewing.org/Large-Siphon-Hose-Shut-off-Clamp_p_4872.html

I've been using these on the outlets from my pump for two years.  Work great.
