Cost of cans?
« on: February 06, 2018, 04:30:54 PM »
Any leads on cans? I've talked to Wisconsin aluminum foundry ($75 for 252) and seen pricing from Oktober Can seamers ($76/240 12 oz). Any other sources? I'm also looking at printed/sleeved cans, but having trouble getting a quote. I'd like to get a canning setup for the homebrew club, and maybe go in on 1000 printed club cans. My thought come with a generic nice looking design for the club, and leave a spot for a brewer to write a name and a style. I'm trying to get a ballpark figure for the cost of this to pitch to my club, I know there's a few of us that are interested but I'm just trying to see how the numbers work out.

I think smallest qty you can buy is one pallet per shrink sleeve cans. Just a question. Where are you going to seam those cans?

I'm looking at getting one of the all american can seamers, they run about $875 for the 12 & 16 oz can flywheel version. Just trying to see how this all pans out longterm.

When you do end up getting setup, check out our blog post on canning:

That's what I'm looking at matching, although not springing for the electric. I'm trying to get a quote from Mossberg Beverage for some labelled cans, but haven't heard anything in ~2 weeks.

I think you are best off if you get your cans from local brewery with lids/ends. Then apply full body label to overlay the graphics for your graphics (not that I would be suggesting anything).

With your low qtys, freight would kill the deal.
