Lager

Never successfully done a lager before.  Was thinking of brewing an ale as normal, mostly 2 row, and then using lager yeast and temps.  Will this work well?
Generally you don't see that kind of behavior in a major appliance.

Sure.  There's no rule that says you have to use pils malt for a lager.

You should split the batch and pitch 2 strains. Neutral lager, neutral ale yeast. Compare and contrast.

If you have temp control I don’t see why using 2-row would be a big deal. It’s your beer.

It will work fine just understand that you will need about 2Xs the amount of yeast and o2 if you are fermenting at proper lager temps (48-52 or so). Fermentation is the key to any beer, but especially lagers.

My Helles tastes way better with Weyermann Pils malt than 2 row. I just found the taste had a more of a Pilsner taste than when I used 2 row. However, it is still good when I zip it up a bit with specialty malts.
