Reusing yeast with gelatin ?
« on: May 21, 2018, 05:08:48 pm »
I couldn’t find a post on this specifically, are there any issues with reusing a yeast cake when gelatin was added in primary?  Please share any advice you have.  Thanks!

We would typically pull yeast before adding finnings and cold crashing.  That being said the tanks were conical and it was easy.  I would start by building a starter and watching how the yeast behaves.

Also, if it isnt a special yeast I would just start over.  Yeast is not super expensive and can make or break the batch.

Next time try siphoning a bit off into a clean and san mason jar to build a starter off of before adding gelatin.  Just in case gelatin does have an effect
