Duvel - Single Fermented (and in 500 ml cans)
« on: July 19, 2018, 09:24:34 pm »
This caught my eye at the store today; I'd never seen it before.

The label says it is single fermented, 6.8% abv, and dry hopped with Citra.

From their website, it sounds like this is brewed in the same way as the classic Duvel, but it's cold filtered and packaged rather than re-fermented in the bottle (and somewhere along the way it's also dry hopped with Citra).

Awesome! Now when someone says they made a Duvel with an American hop, and force carbed it, when folks say "it's not a duvel" they can say "what ever dude"

Sounds delicious.  I'd try it.

I recently ran across St Bernardus Wit in 11.2oz (33cl) cans.  That was wild, but also delicious.

I suspect that's a re-branding/packaging of the Duvel Green. Tasty beer.

I really like the classic Duvel and the Triple Hop (which is also dry hopped with Citra now), but I wasn't that into this one.

The carbonation was pretty low, it poured with little to no head, and there was something about the flavor that I didn't particularly care for.

I'll give it another shot though.  Sometimes I beer I normally enjoy just doesn't taste very good (and I don't know whether that's due to allergies, whatever I last ate, what kind of beer I was drinking before, etc.).
