What homebrewing guru would you love to have a beer with?
« on: November 23, 2018, 05:06:04 am »
Hey there! I'm a new member and new to the hobby. Just had my first brew day a couple of weeks ago and now I'm hooked!

I don't know much about the "who's who" in homebrewing. So, if you could have a beer with a homebrewing guru who would that be?

Thank you!

Fortunately you can have a beer with many of them right here, or while listening to podcasts.

My list would be Denny Conn, Drew Beechum, Keith Yager, Martin Brungard, Matt Chrispin, Steve Antoch, Tedd Hausotter, and a long laundry list of others...

By the way, welcome to the obsession!

I can say I have had a beer or two with the first 5, and have meet the next two. Going to HomebrewCon helps the networking.

John Palmer should be on the list.

Passed!?  Aw man, come on.... this world just ain't fair.

My choice for a dude to hang out with would be James Spencer.  And Denny Conn of course.  :)

Joe Formanek and Randy Mosher (again - for both of them)...those guys are pretty stellar in my book!  Had beers with them in Baltimore a few years back.  A place called Ale Mary’s, if I have it correct.

I'd have to go with Randy Mosher and let him pick the beer.
Beer is my bucket list,

Chuck Silva from Green Flash! Their brewery is gone now, but their West Coast IIPA is my favorite beer of all time.

I don't want Chuck to say anything about beer. Just to share one of my six remaining bottles of GF WCIIPA with him and ask; "WTF happened?".

"WTF happened?"

Why he left Green Flash a while back or what happened with Green Flash financially?

Also, pretty sure Green Flash is still in operation despite their financial problems earlier this year.

Also, pretty sure Green Flash is still in operation despite their financial problems earlier this year.

I read an article on-line that said Green Flash barfed on their east coast brewery and filed for bankruptcy. They disappeared from my area in 2016, and from everywhere in 500 miles in early 2018. I bought one of the last cases of fresh GFWCIIPA in Nacogdoches early this year, and I still have six bottles. I don't care if they're stale. That stuff was pure gold!
