Any skunk beer: Corona, bottled Heineken.....(mentioned above many times)

Any beer that's improperly served at a bar. Through dirty lines, old beer, poor temps......

We attempted to brew a German Pilsner, one of our first club homebrews, the result was some sort of toxic beverage that tasted like formaldehyde. Because of that we now over-sanitize everything.

The brewery closest to me was a nice local Micro with a very nice selection of other micro on tap. The owner/brewer
had the right idea to sell his and other micro toghether. Quite the hang out. But then I noticed his beers begining to
taste infected and rancid. I come to find out later that he had quite the coke habit...Sadly the beer is not the only thing to suffer. The brewery itself became a hangout for the "wrong" crowd. That beer was my worst.

There was some Cherry juice added beer from Smuttynose that was just awful. I think it had some sort of Japanese-sounding name.

+1 on the pumpkin beers, although Dogfish Head makes one that's almost drinkable.

Don't get me started on sour beers. I've had sweetened vinegars that taste better.

I remember back in college finding a beer called "Brewski" at the grocery store for 3.99 a case. Tasted like the cans were made out of cast iron. Sadly we kept going back until they ran out of stock. These were the days when we thought buying a 40 of Mickeys was splurging on the good stuff.

Mostly cause neither of those hold a candle to the true worst: Dixie White Chocolate Mousse.

Could be because the Lambic is SO GOOD in a salad dressing

okay i will say it.  i had a SA cranberry lambic that was terrible, as was a SA imperial white.  just not as bad as the south pacific San Miguel laced with formaldehyde.

For me, the cheap yellow swill that most people have covered above was bad, but not memorably bad.  Memorably bad would have to go to Brau Brothers Scotch Ale.  I hate to rag on a local brewery, but these guys must use about 50% peat smoked malt in that beer, rendering it completely undrinkable, IMO.  I couldn't even finish the tasting sample I was given at a beer festival last summer.  I tried to give a smile to the rep who poured my sample after I took swig, but it was difficult to hide the fact that it was just awful.

I haven't had that beer, but I think peated malt should be either banned altogether or limited to no more than 1 grain per 5 gallon batch.  Unless you are making whisky.   ;)  All right, maybe not, but so many people REALLY overdo it.  I think more than 1% of the total grist is pushing it in a lot of beers.

Peated malt in beer is such a wrong-headed thing...I like scotch whisky in some beers, I like smoke (rauchmalt, or woodsmoke) in beers, but by Jove I hate peated malt in any beer.  And yes, as a beginner I brewed a 80 shilling and wee heavy with much too much peated malt, foolishly.

Go to Scotland, drink their ales....they don't use peated malt for beer.  Only for whisky!
