Sierra Nevada Brut IPA
« on: January 27, 2019, 09:33:59 am »
I didn't know this existed, but I saw it at Trader Joe's yesterday and had to pick some up.  I've only ever tried one other example of the style before so I don't have much to compare it to, but I really like it.

According to the website, the specs are:

OG: 12.5° P
FG: 0.5° P
ABV: 6.2%
IBU: 25

It's just Pils malt with an experimental bittering hop and Comet and Crystal for finishing hops.  Now I kind of want to try brewing one myself.

I made one, pretty easy.
Target a low kettle IBU 20-25 ish, bittering and whirlpool combined. Dry hops of your choice.

I used US-05. Added Amyloglucosidase in primary. Finished at 0.998. it is not too bitter, and some hops like Amarillo and Mandarina Bavaria give it a fruityness that can make you thing it is not that dry.
