Hop extract

Does anyone out there steep their dry hops in hot water and then add the liquid instead of just dropping in the hops?

Not any more after I tried it a couple times.  I found no benefit and plenty of downside

Something similar.  I tried a few times making a hop extract, steeping hops in hot wort on brew day then refrigerating it and adding later. Idea came from Greg Noonan's lager book. The wort will extract the hops better than plain water in theory, due to pH and minerals, etc., and supposedly gives finer aroma and flavor than dry hopping.  But I found it was actually a little coarser aroma and flavor than dry hopping, and added noticable bitterness.  (I know Denny, reality astonishing theory, right?)

Works for me, I'll just do my usual dry hop.
