Well, whatever units you want to use, it did work.  Made up a solution last night and my hydrometer gave me a reading of 1.040.  I recently got a Tilt hydrometer.  In plain water it was zeroed out.  Put it in wort and there was a wide discrepancy between what my hydrometer was saying and what the Tilt was saying.  After testing the hydrometer last night, I was able to email Tilt.  They responded today and a replacement is on the way, no questions asked.  The person I was in touch with said that it was probably not calibrated properly.  Nice to be able to relay a good customer service story!  And Sean and Rob, thanks so much for your help!
